The decision to begin therapy is not always made with certainty and ease, but choosing to do so is indicative of a commitment to self-care. I feel it is a privilege to work with clients who seek the support and guidance needed to elevate their well-being. That said, my philosophy and approach in counseling demonstrates a person-centered perspective, the development of a strong therapeutic alliance, and the use of evidence-based techniques along with creative methods to facilitate change and growth.
Where all paths lead…early on, my journey took me on the path of creativity and later, one of helping others. Those paths along with many fortuitous side-paths, led to pursuing my graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy College. I formally obtained my undergraduate degree in fine art from the School of Visual Arts.
I perceive therapy as a unique, individualized process dedicated to self-discovery. I will personalize the therapeutic approach and introduce creative practices to promote insight and gain further understanding of one’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I have found incorporating creative methods to be therapeutically effective and personally gratifying for clients of any age. Whatever method is best suited to the individual (adult, adolescent, or child), cultivating resilience and identifying strengths are crucial to foster positive change, while providing guidance and support to identify and remove obstacles that obstruct self-realization, autonomy and growth.
